CLIENT & CAREGIVER COMMENTS
Marie has proven to be an incredible asset to our organization and a valued member of the team. Her vast experience with, and passion for those impacted by dementia is evident in all aspects of her work. Her holistic approach is refreshing and is beneficial to all those she serves. We feel fortunate to have her as a resource.
In December 2021 we engaged Marie’s service to get a better understanding of the needs and current health of my mum. The assessment we received was by far the most comprehensive bit of information received to date on my mum’s current health and also what needed to be done to be able to care for her properly at home. Without Marie’s report it would have caused delay and stress as we figured out if we were doing things correctly and that the correct care was being provided. Should you have any questions or concerns on an elderly family member we would recommend you reach out North Star Dementia.
There is much to be done and the numbers of people suffering from degenerative neurological conditions such as dementia are likely to continue to increase. I applaud Ms Fay’s desire to develop community services for these individuals and would urge all the agencies who are in a position to help to give her all the support they can
The assessments were conducted in my aunt’s home; in an environment that she was familiar with and would be living in. This patient-centered approach focused on her specific needs including all aspects of activities of daily living. The Occupational Therapist engaged my aunt the entire time, asking specific questions of her, watching and assessing how she maneuvered throughout her home. The assessment provided us as a family with a greater appreciation of what my aunt’s current needs were, and helped prepare us for her future care needs, in order to keep her safely at home all whilst helping to promote her independence, dignity and respect
Marie contacted me and came and talked to me as well as my wife. She also did a short test. She explained about the program and talked to me about Dementia. She has a very calm manner. Her home visits were tremendously helpful and I felt I was able to share some confidential personal information with her
My husband was diagnosed with early Dementia in 2015. His doctor referred him to Marie Fay, who came to our home to assess him. She was very compassionate, helpful and patient. I am at the point now with his progression I am in need of her services for education and training and support
